So what is a Safari really like?

Yesterday we checked the last one off the list of the Big Five- the Leopard. I feel like it is a crime to only highlight those- it should really be more like the “Impressive 150.” Even the African Dung Beetle is ridiculously AMAZING! I can’t even begin to explain. The things I’ve learned in just 5 days. No amount of reading or film could ever compare to what this feels like. That is why I’m sharing it. Forgive me for the constant posting but I want you to experience this too without the sensationalism of Nat Geo Wild. I thought all the animals would be on alert 24/7 and every moment was a potential Kill around the corner. Most of the time- the animals are pretty chill. They don’t hover in a state of constant food chain paranoia. And I thought every Savannah was endless- those craters are almost like a fishbowl, with most of the animals down inside in a smaller space. Serengeti is huge- but the landscape changes- sometimes high grass and sometimes lots of trees, and some no trees. We have driven ALL DAY just in Serengeti. We’re still in it! Ha! Mostly small little mountains around the edges. A little warmer here, but not blazing hot. Lion are easy to spot, but cheetah and leopard are super tough. So our driver Steven has a radio and all the drivers listen and when somebody spots something, everybody tells everybody, and you hope you get to the right spot on time! We missed one leopard today by minutes. When you see a bunch of land rovers all stopped you know something is going down! Oh- one more thing before I go today- the roads in the park- very VERY bumpy- like 4wheeling on a volcano! Ha! Hours and hours of that! Every driver says “time for your massage!!” So if you don’t like being in the back of a school bus- this ain’t for you! I love it!!!! And for those with weak bladders, better bring some depends!😂😂😂
