Amsterdam- just where is that, anyways??

I know most of Europe like the back of my hand, but for some reason, I have always been confused by this country I find myself in today.  First of all,  let’s face it- the claim to fame is the red light district?  Hmmm- ok- tulips, windmills and here, in Amsterdam, the Anne Frank house.  So let me clear up the confusion for you- Amsterdam is in HOLLAND.   Now you probably knew that.  So what’s the Netherlands then?  And—-Where is Copenhagen?  Copenhagen is in DENMARK, and the Netherlands includes all the provinces of Holland-(Kinda like the Motherland for me is another name for England??!!).  Now you got it!!  They are Dutch.  Famous for some pretty fabulous cheese, stroopwaffles, and those fries with the mayo on top.  It also contains a ton of canals which are fun to ride through!!  Another interesting thing to know- they LOVE their bikes here- I mean EVERYBODY bikes!!!  There are dedicated lanes, you’ll get run over if you don’t watch!
