Goodbye Europe, hello Africa!

Next time we see you we will be in Nairobi.  It is always a bit strange to me when I travel to think about how big and how small the world really is.  I remember when I went to China thinking- in one day I can be half way around the world- and when I got there I thought, hmm- they are just like us- they want to be happy, have dreams, needs and goals just like ours.  I realized how small the world is.  People anywhere are like us- complex, emotional physical beings living out their lives just like we do.  Maybe doing it in different ways, but life continues for us all.    And yet, the world can be such a big place- we forget.  We get so locked in on our little problems- a work “deal with issues” in my case, or a traffic jam…..and suddenly WE think our world is in trouble.  If we get outside of ourselves long enough to be reminded that this little spec of dirt we live on is one tiny part of a much bigger part then we could put it in perspective.  Life is pretty good.  Drop down on another spec of dirt and our trouble is survival and looking for food or clean water every minute of the day.    Travel does that- it dumps you out on another spec of dirt.  Shakes you up.  Nothing better than a good rock n roll.   So Bring It On.

    1. I know! I can’t wait to show you! I will have to tell the story of the guy I sat next to on the plane- he is the Kenyan Ambassador for Cuba- that was a wild story! But we looked through the safari book and every animal I showed him he said “oh I know you are going to see those!!”
